Angelina Lavasseur faces additional three counts of sexual assault and one count of invitation to sexual touching
A Toronto hairdresser has been charged with additional offences in relation to a child sex abuse investigation.
Angelina Lavasseur, 47, was arrested in the Toronto area on Saturday and was scheduled to appear at a bail hearing later in the day.
According to an Ontario police press release, Lavasseur has been charged with sexual assault, invitation to sexual touching and sexual interference for offences allegedly committed against a child, who was under 16 at the time.
In the press release police allege the offences took place in Toronto between December 2009 and August 2010.
Lavasseur, a former star of the internet reality show P.S. Star!, was previously charged with one count of invitation to sexual touching for allegedly sexually touching a child on 10 February.
Lavasseur was on the set of the Discovery Channel’s reality TV show when she was charged with one count of sexual assault and one count of invitation to sexual touching of a child under 16 years of age.
Toronto police confirm that the matter is not related to the Jian Ghomeshi case.
Ghomeshi, a former radio host who was recently acquitted of sexual assault, is a friend of Lavasseur.
A former friend and colleague of Lavasseur, who asked to remain anonymous, told the Toronto Star that her arrest had been a shock for the couple, but that she did not have any indication Lavasseur would do anything wrong.
