Wag-a-Lark comes to Britain for the first time and sees a ‘zany Wiggle-a-Wag’ launched in the US
This toy allows your dog to ‘call’ you
It’s not quite Siri for dogs, but new interactive toys are enabling man’s best friend to offer “chatty” responses.
The latest US creation is the Wag-a-Lark dog phone. It features a built-in speaker so that your dog can be “barked” into the phone – doggy-style – in order to tell you who is calling.
It is based on the Imaginext interactive phone that was launched in 2016 in the US, with a Californian company recently adding its name to a patent held by the British firm behind the device.
Some dog owners may disagree, with dog behaviourists cautioning against the latest “indoors speaking” technology.
The father of one dog owner in Los Angeles said there were a lot of technical issues with the device that were not easily solved by attaching a speaker to the dog.
New York City is also home to the Wiggle-a-Wag, a big blue striped ball which connects to an iPhone via Bluetooth.
One app allows the dog to sit and shake its head as if it is talking to its owner, while one more – Offline – simply lets your dog “talk” to you and other off-leash animals around the house.
