Pete Davidson is an accomplished comedian, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t care about his adoring fans. The Saturday Night Live star celebrated his 25th birthday with his family and friends on Saturday, and, according to the New York Post, he threw an amazing party.
At the party, the SNL star jumped into an ice cream truck, and then, it seems, phoned up rapper Flavor Flav, whose nickname is also the word “flavor,” to give him a celebratory doughnut. Some of the other guests included Judd Apatow, Ariana Grande, and his mother, Carol Davidson.
In an interview with The Cut earlier this year, Davidson and Grande spoke about how they actually got to know each other by serendipity and not a long courtship.
“I met her through my mom, which I think maybe she went to Laker games with my mom in the ’90s — she had the ‘small vagina’ jerseys,” Davidson said. “I had a meeting with SNL and I walked in and was so nervous because I had no experience and no contacts and no ideas. I remember my mom kind of caught it on camera — she was like, ‘Do you know how old she is?’ And I was like, ‘No, I don’t know what I’m doing. I was just being nervous.’ And she was like, ‘You need to go in and meet with Ariana.’ I was like, ‘I don’t know who she is.’ ”
For her part, Grande remembered that Davidson came into her own right at that moment, but also that she was telling him to go in.
“I was like, ‘I’m here and I’m up for anything,’ and he was like, ‘I’m here,’ and I was like, ‘You need to come meet with me. This is a lot of pressure. This is too much pressure, but you’re here. Go.’ And I was like, ‘Is this going to kill my vibe?’”
People close to Davidson say that the two are starting to become very much in love, and his mother was reportedly really happy about this.
The pair have been dating since early last year. In the same interview, Davidson revealed that the fire emoji he always wears on his baseball hat has a special meaning for him.
“My mom is kind of always a fire person, and we play a lot of college football here in New York, so she’s a fire emoji all the time,” he said. “And my baseball hat has a lot of fire emojis on it.”
